As different to the building process where an idea takes several months and many people to materialise, our explorations in craft are much more spontaneous.
Often, the act of sculpting bamboo as a process of exploration creates a particular object. This was the case when we were cutting spirals along a bamboo pole and suddenly a scoop emerged. This idea was then refined in further versions.
At other times, we begin with a function in mind such as a candle holder, and it is through iterative play with the material that a design is generated.
